  Many central heating systems suffer from severe contamination with black iron oxide. This is formed as a result of long term corrosion of steel radiators and other metallic components within the heating system.

  The black iron oxide, also known as magnetite, bonds with other corrosion debris and particulate matter to form thick sludge deposits.

  These particles bond to all components, often causing premature failure of pumps and valves. When they contaminate the boiler heat exchanger and pipework, dramatic efficiency losses result. Tests have shown that even a minimal build up results in a serious drop in boiler efficiency.
